Artificial Intelligence Act
Artificial Intelligence also arrives at the European Parliament.
On August 2, 2025, the European Parliament recently promoted a new European regulation: the Artificial Intelligence Act. This regulation will not only change the landscape of today’s digital world, but also represents a step towards digital innovation in European institutions.
Italy, following European regulations, approved the first Italian AI Decree (No. 132/2025) on September 17, 2025, to adapt Italian laws to the European regulations and the increasingly significant changes in the IT world, but also defining the consequences for the professional and business sector, with the advent of AI.

What is the Artificial Intelligence Act
The EU AI Act is the European Union’s first attempt to enact regulations on Artificial Intelligence, now an integral part of our personal and professional lives.
The new legislation distinguishes between two main categories of recipients:
- Providers: those behind the development, modification, distribution, and use of other professional AI models for profit
- Users: those who use AI models (e.g., ChatGPT or CoPilot).
The impact on providers and companies
According to the new European Directive, companies that apply AI technologies will have to comply with specific obligations:
- All companies will have to declare transparently their use of GPAI models and specify to recipients how this has been done.
- Each business must train its employees, according to their professional role, on the optimal and compliant use of AI before they are deployed in the workplace.
- Subsequently, GPAI providers that derive profits must, by August 2, 2027, provide the following documentation: Technical documentation on AI models and the sources used for training, in complete transparency with instructions and risks of use; Adherence to a code of conduct and application of copyright rules.
How the AI Decree works in Italy: September 2025
The Official Italian Decree on Artificial Intelligence was approved on September 17th, 2025, and published in the Official Newspaper (Gazzetta Ufficiale) on September 25th. This law aims to align the current legislation with European laws.
The Decree anticipates the creation of new legislative decrees for the regularization of Artificial Intelligence algorithms and establishes the supervisory bodies and authorities in this area, the AgID (Agency for Digital Italy) and the ACN (Agency for National Cybersecurity), in collaboration with the Ministry. It also specifies the guidelines to be followed in professional and personal spheres, in the field of copyright, and much more.
AI: a winning ally for the future of digitalization
The approval of these Legislative Directives is the clear proof that Artificial Intelligence has officially become part of the social and professional fabric of every person’s life.
It is now essential to keep pace with technological innovation and consider Artificial Intelligence not only as an essential tool, but also as a winning ally in keeping pace with the future of digitalization.
